John Millard Wilson passed away on December 29, 2016 from complications from vascular issues. John was born in Morehead City to Millard Jenkins Wilson and Gladys Head Edwards. His surviving siblings are Doris Costner, Ruth Prichard and William Edwards. He also leaves behind a son, Zachary M. Wilson and granddaughter Chloe Wilson.
The Wilson family moved to Asheville in the 50's where John graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1966. He attended the University of Tennessee before joining the Navy. While in the Navy John graduated from Georgia State in 1975 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. John worked at Harland Printing in Atlanta for many years before returning to school at John Marshall Law School. A stroke in 1988 hindered the completion after 3 years of study. John attended C.P.C.C. and graduated with a degree in medical billing and coding. He worked for Mecklenburg County for almost 20 years before leaving due to health issues and returning to Asheville where he resided.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel, Black Mountain.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
I wanted to send my love and condolences to the Wilson family. I’m so very sorry for your loss. A scripture that has always been comforting to me is 2 Corinthians 1:3,4, which says, in part, ‘the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.’ God will provide you the needed strength and comfort to get through this difficult time, as well as a beautiful hope for the future, found at John 5:28,29, which promises us the resurrection hope-the hope of being reunited with our lost loved ones. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
