A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Neil and Sue Fox Letterman and was preceded in death by his wife Doreen Letterman. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was retired from the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA with 32 years of service.
He is survived by his sons, David and Larry Letterman both of Portland,OR; sisters, Lettie Hollingworth of Gretna, LA and Juanita Pardo of Metairie, LA; a brother Neil Letterman of Anaheim, CA; a granddaughter Teri and a great-granddaughter Kyra, both of Portland.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Charles Sprinkle officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
Mr. Letterman’s family expresses sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of Aston Park Health Care Center.
