John William Leonard, Jr.

John William Leonard, Jr., 84, of Asheville, sailed away to another adventure on July 7, 2015, at Mission Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late John W., Sr. and Hilda Jameson Leonard, he was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and worked as Project Engineer with Babcock & Wilcox. He was a licensed ham operator and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Palmer Leonard; four sons, John W. Leonard, III, Jameson Risley, Scott A. Leonard and John W. Connell; three daughters, Kirsten A. Leonard, Nancy E. Vought and Lori J. Leonard; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC, 28806, or to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park - Bldg. 1, Asheville, NC, 28801.
