Johnnie Speas Carter

Johnnie Speas Carter died at the age of 90 at the Givens Health Center on March 23, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend James Edwin Carter and their son, Jimmy. She was the daughter of Wesley B. Speas and Louzannie Long. Johnnie had two sisters: Margaret Horne and Martha Jennings, also deceased. Johnnie is survived by one daughter Rachel Huggins wife of John Huggins, 4 grandchildren: Amy Pierson, Ben Huggins, Jenny Huggins, and Heather Carter; and 2 great grandchildren: Peyton and Ryan Pierson. Johnnie will most be remembered for her absolute love of music. She brought peace and joy to many over the years with her piano playing. There will be a memorial service at the Givens Health Center in Asheville, NC on Sunday at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate the joy of life and be kind to all you meet today.
