Johnny D. Lea Jr.

Johnny Lea Jr., “June”, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Johnny was born on October 20, 1964 and was a native of Alamance County. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lea Sr. and his step-daughter, Amy Hare.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lea; three step-children, Joshua Hare, Matthew Hare and Julie Litchford, along with eleven grandkids and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by his mother, Wyvonia Lea; two sisters, Yolanda Michelle Skull (Patrick) and Tina Yvette Powell (Patrick) and one brother Anthony Lea (Linda).

Johnny was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He also took pride in his further careers at Waste Pro, Republic Services and Lowe’s, where he made lifelong and very dear friends. Johnny loved attending drag races, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Rick Harris, will be held in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 30 with burial to follow in the Butler addition of New Salem Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Joshua, Matthew, David, Mick, Charles and Rodney will serve as pallbearers.
