Johnny Lee Loftin, 88, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Givens Estates Health Center.

Mr. Loftin was born in Fallstown Township, NC to the late Clate and Nora Lee Loftin. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Kirby Loftin and three sisters, Hazel Burrell, Eloise Meadows and Azile McLaurin.

Johnny retired from ABF Trucking as an operations manager. He was an Army Veteran and an avid sportsman who loved hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Howell Loftin; two sons, Jon Loftin (Rebecca) and Jeff Loftin (Donna); five grandchildren, Lanier, Suzannah, Victoria, Madison and Nicholas; a brother, Frank Loftin and a sister, Murlene Boliek.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

A graveside service will follow the receiving of friends at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org

  6. I am so sad to read of John-Boy’s death. What a wonderful individual, both inside and out! A pleasure to be around-smiling, cheerful, and kind! I especially enjoyed dancing with Barbara and Johnny on the Valley Springs Smooth Square Dance team-what fun we had.

  12. Dear family, my heart is broken in two.

    Johnny, I have run the video of all our fun times, going on our yearly beach trips, cabin visits, crazy travels to all the thrift stores, playing 7s…what fun we all had. I remember the day Barbara told me when i was 10, you two were getting married and to keep it a secret. I love you. You’ve been a blessed part of my life. See you soon! I hope my mansion in Heaven is close to yours.

    So sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. Bill & I attended Arden FBC with you all for many years and I delivered mail to you on St John’s for over 30 years- when Johnny had his garage sales he always shared plants with me. I have a butterfly bush & beauty berry bushes in my yard that makes me think of you all every time they bloom.
    May the Lord bless you & give you comfort in the days ahead. Johnny will surely be missed.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. Johnny hired my husband-Leon- at ABF. He thought very highly of Johnny. He would stop by to see him from time to time. Always in the yard working. I grew up in Arden First Baptist with the Loftin family. Lots of good memories. I pray that God will put his loving arms around all of you and comfort you. I’m praying for all of you🙏
