Jon Harding Andrews

Jon Harding Andrews, 82, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at Stonecreek Health & Rehab.
A native of Spartanburg County, SC, he was a son of the late Odell and Edna Marie Andrews. He was reared by his maternal grandmother, along with his older sister Glenda and twin brother Don, in Inman, SC, where he was instilled with a foundation of trusting in the Lord; a trust that would withstand many trials over the years.
After his time in the USMC, he met and spent 53 wonderful years with his wife Shirley, and together they raised two children.
Jon was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He spent his life giving what he could, when he could. A visit to his home meant leaving with whatever he had in mind that he thought you needed. He also shared his contagious laughter and light-heartedness freely with all those around him.
He now sits at the Lord’s table with his wife, his father, mother, stepmother Helen, infant sister Cynthia Leigh, several close family members and countless friends. When he knew the time was near for his wife Shirley, he whispered quietly to her, “Meet me at the gate”.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Andrews (Dean Fitzpatrick) of Marietta, GA; daughter, Joy Arthur (Jeremy) of Arden; his sister, Glenda Wolfe of Asheville, his twin brother, Don Andrews of Asheville, two grandchildren, Joanna Arthur and Jesse Arthur as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jon’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Reverend Chuck Waldrup officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 10 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers and in Jon’s memory, the family asks that you make a needed donation to Williamson Lovelights Fund to assist families in need who are battling cancer.
