We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our father, Jose Santa Tijerina, who went by “TJ,” of Asheville, NC at the age of 66. He left us on Monday, November 13, 2023.
He is survived by two daughters, Priscilla Garcia and her husband Ismael Garcia Jr., and Erica Villarreal and her husband Jaime Albert Villarreal; five grandchildren of Henderson, CO; two brothers, Julian Tijerina Jr. of Amarillo TX, and George Tijerina and his wife Rosie Tijerina of Hereford TX; one sister Mary Lou Perez and her husband Roland Perez of Hereford, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Julian, his mother Mary, and brother Gene Tijerina of Hereford, TX, along with one grandson Jaimie Villareal Jr. of Thornton, CO.
TJ was born on Saturday, July 27, 1957 to Mary and Julian Tijerina in Hereford, TX. He was a proud marine who later lived in California for many years. His favorite past time was going to the beach to watch the beautiful sunsets. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and grilling steaks.
He is greatly missed and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace Dad…

I was friends with and worked with TJ in California and North Carolina for many years. As a Marine, he worked on the same aircraft that I did in the Navy. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He is missed by all.
