Joseph David Patneaude of Asheville, NC passed away on October 8, 2014 after a long illness at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. He was born in Asheville NC to the late Joseph David Patneaude Sr. and Gertrude Bassett Patneaude on January 4, 1929. Joseph was educated in Asheville City Schools and Brevard College, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). He also served in the Naval Reserves. He was an active, lifetime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church until his health declined. Joseph was Commissioner of East Asheville Little League Baseball in the mid 1970's and worked with Scouts. He was a long-time member of Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge #118 and was the owner of an auto parts business. He is survived by his wife Johnsie of 57 years, sons David of Marion, NC, Stephen (Lisa) of Rock Hill, SC, Mark of Asheville, granddaughters Caitlin (Ryan) Davenport of Orlando, FL and Sarah Grace Patneaude a student at West Georgia University. We give thanks to the staff of the North Carolina State Veterans Home for their excellent care to our dear Joe during his 14 months there. Visitation will be Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M. and services will follow at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Asheville with Masonic rites conducted by Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge #118. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to St. Paul's UMC, 223 Hillside Street Asheville, NC 28801 or the Masonic Children's Home in Oxford NC.
