Joseph Lee Boyte

August 15, 1935 ~ July 17, 1998
Mr. Boyte was born in Moore County and was a son of the late Joseph Lee and Alma Campbell Boyte, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Boyte.
He was an Army veteran and received his Bachelor's Degree from Appalachian State University. He then received a Masters Degree from Western Carolina University and a Degree in Meteorology from Penn State.Early in his career he worked with the Winston City School System and the Forsyth County Schools. He then joined the Air Weather Service until his retirement as Chief Deputy in 1993.
After retirement, he worked with his son's restaurant, Boston Pizza, as well as volunteering with St. Joseph Hospital and the Cove (the Billy Graham Training Center).
He was a member, deacon, Sunday School teacher and director of West Asheville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty G. Boyte; two sons and their wives, Brian Lee and Laura Boyte and Cory Patrick and Michelle Boyte; a sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Charles Speight; a brother and sister-in-law, John K. and Ruth Boyte; a sister-in-law, Jan P. Boyte; and two grandchildren, Justin Lee Boyte and Lindsey Erin Boyte.
