Joshua Webb Cook, 28, formerly of Leicester, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in Lexington, TN. Josh was a graduate of Erwin High School and enjoyed youth league basketball and baseball. He especially was a skateboarding enthusiast, a talented artist, and a mechanic who liked tinkering with lo-riders. He will be remembered as being kind and good-hearted, always willing to help, and especially had a fondness for the elderly. His family include his mother, Penny Meadows Lewis and husband Tony; his father, Robert Kenneth "Bob" Cook and wife, Mary Brookshire; sister, Corey Shelton and husband David; twin brother Bryan Cook and wife Emily; Josh's wife Ashley and step-son Michael; maternal grandfather Don Meadows (and the late Nelia Meadows); paternal grandmother, Cleta Cook (and the late Herbert Cook); half-brother Jesse S. Cook and wife Kat; five nieces and one nephew. A funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Josh will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony next to his grandmother at Bell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

  5. I had the pleasure of working with Josh (and his brother) at Calabash West many years ago. Josh was the sweetest boy in the world. He was quiet and cool and I absolutely loved to see him smile that shy smile of his. He was the ‘best bus boy out of the whole dang bunch’ because he worked hard and never, ever complained. I looked forward to shifts with him. And he was one of a handful of people I’ve genuinely missed since leaving that job so long ago.
    Josh’s parents, siblings, wife, and other loved ones are in my prayers. I cannot imagine the incredible pain of such a loss. God bless and keep you all.
