Joyce Elizabeth Dayton, 65, died Monday, January 7, 2013. A Buncombe Co. native, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Blankenship of Asheville. She is survived by her mother, Ann Taylor Lance and sister Linda Gosnell of FL, and children Tammy Ward and Terry Sawyer of Asheville. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 3 nephews. She worked numerous years for Memorial Mission and served on S.M.A.T. Team on multiple natural disasters. A memorial graveside service will be held on January 19, 2013, at the Old Academy Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Larry Spencer will officiate. In lieu of flower, the family asks that donations be made to Academy Cemetery, 25 Hungry Creek Rd., Canton, NC 28716. Special thanks to Lisa and Mike Wallace of SC and Lane Taylor of Asheville.
