Joyce Elizabeth Dayton, 65, died Monday, January 7, 2013.
A Buncombe Co. native, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Blankenship of Asheville. She is survived by her mother, Ann Taylor Lance and sister Linda Gosnell of FL, and children Tammy Ward and Terry Sawyer of Asheville. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 3 nephews.
She worked numerous years for Memorial Mission and served on S.M.A.T. Team on multiple natural disasters.
A memorial graveside service will be held on January 19, 2013, at the Old Academy Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Larry Spencer will officiate.
In lieu of flower, the family asks that donations be made to Academy Cemetery, 25 Hungry Creek Rd., Canton, NC 28716.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Joyce’s death. She was such a sweet and dear lady. The memories of working with her and the incredable vacation’s we shared. She will be greatly missed but forever in our heart!! Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
I HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF JOYCE.A BUNCH OF US WOULD GO OUT AFTER WORK FOR DINNER AND DRINKS AND WE ALWAYS HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME! I ALSO ENJOYED SOME GREAT PARTIES AT HER HOME. SHE ALWAYS HAD SO MUCH FOOD AND SHE WAS SUCH A GOOD COOK. JOYCE HAD A GOOD HEART. SO SORRY HER LIFE HAD TO END SO SOON
