Joyce M. Buckner

Arden - Joyce M. Buckner, 64, of 810 Glen Bridge Road, died Monday, January 3, 2000, at her residence. A native of Beaverdam, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Foster Smith and Delores Hunt. She had been a resident of Buncombe county since 1978 and was retired from the Hendersonville Road K-Mart. She was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church and was on the Historical Committee of the Buncombe Baptist Association. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Foy Buckner; three sisters, Faye Crews of Falls Rough, KY, Brenda Stelow of Griffith, Indiana, Marlyn Mills of Bonita Springs, Florida; a brother, Charles Smith of Whiting, Ind.; four nieces, six nephews, including Brian Acheson and a host of great nieces and nephews, including Zachary Acheson and many friends. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian followed by a service conducted by the Rev. Roger Reardon. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday in the chapel of Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland, Ind.
