Eddie and Carolyn,
Words fail me when I attempt to properly honor your dear Mother. I met “Mrs. Lindsay” over 45 years ago when we were all just kids. Although she asked that I call her Joyce, I could never bring myself to do that. I will always remember her gentleness, her strength and her absolute devotion to you. I remember her kindness, how she reached out to my Mother when she was sick, and how she cared for all within her community. She will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so sorry that I cannot be there with you but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love from Melba

She always had a smile on her face as we all were in school together she never forgot us kids she always could call us by name when we would see her out in town. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Dear Lindsay Family,
I will always remember your Mom as being the most kind and gentle person. You could almost see the smile when she talked to you on the phone from her desk at the Library Center at the Buncombe County School offices. I knew her the entire time she worked for the school system. She was a fine Christian lady and I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone.
You have lots of good memories of her I am sure, so keep these with you always and she will be near to you. My prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
Love in Christ,
Ethel Jacobson
Retired Librarian, AC Reynolds High
I have wonderful memories of the time I spent with Mrs. Lindsey in her beautiful house in the country.
When I saw Joyce’s obituary in the paper and saw that familiar smile, it reminded me of how kind and pleasant your mom was. She was a great help to me when I was a Media Specialist and she was at central office.
May God bless you during this time as we all remember a very special lady, Joyce.
Sincerely,
Helen Rice
Eddie and Carolyn,
I am Carmie & Pearl Smith’s youngest daughter. We have not seen each other in years and years, buy our Moms kept in touch.
It is June 9, and I just learned of her passing. I’m sorry to not have known it in time to come to the service to see you all.
Our older sister, Lou is the one Joyce called to check on Mama in the past few years after Mama had to go to a nursing home. Lou has been sick for quite sometime and was in the hospital at the time of Joyce’s passing. Lou passed last Monday – June 1 – so now they are together and can catch up on everything.
I am truly sorry to not have known it and you are in my prayers. Life as we knew it will never be the same on this earth. If you are in town and would like to call, my number is 298-2635 (home) 684-1340 (work)
I know I don’t have to tell you that you were loved very much by your Mom.
