Joyce Elaine Pruett Jenkins, 51, of 2 Springdale Street, Asheville, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, June 30, 2000, following a long bout with cancer at the Hospice Solace Center.

She was a native of Buncombe County and a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James W. Jenkins; her mother, Wanda Jo Martin and step-father, Derrell Acrey of Swannanoa; her father, Lee Pruett, Jr. of Swannanoa; two sisters, Frances Leona Tate of Black Mountain and Wanda Lee West and her husband Steven of Swannanoa; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd White officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
