Juanita Cogdill Bishop

Juanita "Meme" Bishop, 88, of Pleasant Ridge Drive, Asheville, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at her residence. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Bertha Kirkpatrick Cogdill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Bishop, Sr., two sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Bishop had retired from Bussman Industries. She is survived by her daughter, Gwen Butler and husband Ken; son, Fred Lee Bishop, Jr.; brothers, Paul Cogdill and wife Nancy, and James Cogdill and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Scott Wilbanks and wife Debbie, and Pam Nelson and husband Andy; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Abby, and Mary Beth; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Bishop will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Woodby officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Williams, Larry Williams, Steve Plemmons, Danny Bishop, Dale Bishop, and Bill Gosnell. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
