Juanita Meadows Sharpe, 78, of New Leicester Highway, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the WNC Baptist Home.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Floyd Samuel and Florence Hawks Meadows. She was also preceded in death by brothers Wayne Meadows and Wade Meadows, and sister Katherine Meadows.
Mrs. Sharpe was the loving wife of 60 years of Wilburn Sharpe; she is also survived by daughters Donna Sharpe Sanders and husband Kenneth, and Anita Sharpe Henry and husband Kenneth; grandchildren Jason Sanders and wife Malinda, Jeremy Sanders and wife Amanda, Samuel Caleb Henry, and Joshua Ethan Henry; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Don, Harold, Floyd, Owen, and Kyle Meadows; and sisters Betty Sharpe and Carolyn Radcliff.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ricky Wolfe and the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

To Juanita’s Family, I didn’t know your Mother, but I watched your Father as he faithfully cared for her. He is an inspiration to all of us who have loved ones no longer able to care for themselves. My condolences and sorrow for Wilburn,Donna and Anita in the aftermath of such a darling loss.I remember back to when Dad treated her for chiropractic issues as well as you and the girls.I lost my Mother a few years ago to alzeimers disease and it was a rough go to see her dwindle down.It seems like only yesterday that we were in each others company.I know that Juanita suffered back then as she liked to share her stories and pains with my Mom.God bless all of you in the days ahead.
