Juanita Ray Stotesbury, 93 passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Becky's Rest Home in Fletcher, with her family beside her. She was the daughter of the late Mabel Creasman Webb and Charles L. Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Arthur E. Stotesbury, and her son Keith E. Stotesbury. Juanita was born and raised in the Haw Creek area. In her younger years she was a silversmith for Stuart Nye Jewelry. She retired from Gerber Products where she worked in quality control. Juanita loved gardening and canning, and was known for her good cooking. She was an avid fan of East Asheville Midget-Mite Football, and the A.C. Reynolds Rockets. Juanita was a member of Bethesda United Methdodist Church for over eighty years, where she was an active member of the Methodist Women and in the Bethesda choir for many years. She is survived by her daughter Susan Stills and husband Don of Fairview; her son Tommy Stotesbury and wife Sandy of Arden; two grandchildren, Brandon Stotesbury of Raleigh and Stacey Libbert and husband Rob of Elkin; great-grandchildren Warren and Blake Stotesbury, and Harper Lee and Isaac Libbert; sister, Clara Cooper of Asheville; and brothers Robert Webb and wife Sharon of Fairview, and Bill Webb and wife Jean of Asheville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd., where the funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation. The Revs. Karen Doucette and Don Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery, 315 Old Haw Creek Rd., Asheville NC 28805. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to two very special friends, Jennie Buckner and Andrea Lee, who helped Juanita at her home and the whole staff and residents at Becky's Rest Home for the love they showed to Juanita. Prayers and love to you all. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Haw Creek/Bethesda Cemetery Fund, 129 Regal Knolls Dr., Mills River, NC 28759.
