Judith Anne Payne Morris, 78, of Asheville, NC passed away on June 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Morris, her parents, Hugh Payne and Carrie Price Payne and brother, Don Payne.

She is survived by her sons; Eric Morris and Matthew Morris (Shannon); a daughter; Traci Melton (Scott); and her siblings; Swann Payne (Joyce), Mildred Phillips and six grandchildren: Aidan and Bella Morris, Nate and Lara Morris, and David and Mark Melton.

She retired from A.C. Reynolds Middle School after teaching 31 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at New Bridge Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Clark Henderson will officiate. A private burial is planned in the WNC State Veterans Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers who provided such wonderful care to our mom and dad over the last 3 1/2 years.

  2. My heart is broken in the loss of my sweet friend Judy. I don’t remember all she taught me in school but I cherish the way she made me feel throughout my life. My life is blessed because Judy was a part of it. i have so many sweet memories of her. God bless you Morris family.
