It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Judy Victoria Reese Dills announces her passing on July 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Born in Black Mountain, NC, on January 16, 1944, Judy’s life journey concluded in Hendersonville, NC, with the same grace and dignity that she carried throughout her life. Surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully departed for her heavenly home.
Left to honor her memory are her beloved husband, Bruce Dills; daughters, Vickie Dills and Sharon Edwards (Sam); grandsons, Chase Worley, Matthew Edwards, and Zack Edwards; sister, Revonda Reese (Leonard); brother, Melvin Reese (Willine); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Burgess Reese and Clyde Reese, her sister, Hazel Stevens, and grandson, Stephen Edwards.
Judy, a dedicated Christian, found joy in spreading happiness to others through her humor, infectious laugh, radiant smile, and compassionate nature. She cherished life and the simple pleasures it offered. Her zest for life was evident in her hobbies, which included swimming, traveling, gardening, shopping, decorating for all holidays, and baking. She treasured moments at the beach and the lake, showcased her green thumb in her beautiful gardens, and enjoyed exploring thrift stores for unique discoveries, which she generously shared with those she loved. Judy devoted 22 years of her career to Quest Diagnostics, leaving behind a lasting impact with her dedication and hard work.
Her greatest devotion was to her family, whom she loved deeply and nurtured with every opportunity. Holidays and birthdays were made special by her thoughtful celebrations, and the memories created on these occasions will forever be treasured by those who were blessed to be a part of her life.
As we bid farewell, we reflect upon a life marked by love, nurturing and deep familial bonds. A service commemorating Judy’s life will take place at Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC, on Saturday, July 20, 2024 beginning with a visitation at 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral at 3:00 p.m. Burial will then take place at Mountain View Memorial Park, Black Mountain.
Her vibrant spirit and the happiness she brought to others will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
