Julia Freeman Edwards

Mrs. Edwards was born in Yancey County, was a daughter of the late Elijah Houston and Nora Belle Street Freeman, and was married to Clyde W. Edwards, Sr., who died in 1992. She worked as a cook in various schools, camps, and other establishments throughout Yancey County.

She is survived by a daughter, Sybil Williams of Weaverville; C.W. Edwards of Weaverville; four granddaughters, Nikki Edwards, Revelle Edwards, Mandy Thomas and Callie Dockery, and three great-grandchildren, Turner and Kingston Thomas and India Dockery.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at McCurry Cemetery in Burnsville with the Rev. Larry Edwards officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
