Julia S. Poole

August 6, 1905 ~ February 25, 1999

Julia Staley Poole, 93, formerly of South Woodward Avenue, Asheville, died Thursday, February 25, 1999.

Mrs. Poole was born in Aurora, NC, and was a daughter of the late Dr. S. Walter and Janie Chapin Staley. She was married to Edwin S. Poole, Sr., who died in 1983. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was active in the leadership of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and the Twentieth Century Club.

She is survived by her son, Edwin S. Poole, Jr., of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren, Edwin S. Poole III of Tampa, FL, Julia Elizabeth Sullivan of New York City, and Bryan Duff Poole of Athens, GA, and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Chapin Poole of Tampa.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Mouw officiating. Burial will be at Lewis Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church and request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to the Salvation Army.
