Julian Moore Cochrane, 78, of Arden, passed away on September 11, 2016.
Mr. Cochrane went to be with the Lord from the cherished sunroom in his home. At his side were Norma, his devoted wife of 54 years, his beloved daughter, Princess Tracy, and his faithful companion, Bandit the Wonder Dog.
A life-long resident of Buncombe County, he was a steadfast husband, loving father, entrepreneur, business owner, and plumbing contractor. He truly had a servant's heart in all aspects of life. He built the family home in 1962 where he and Norma raised their two children in a home that he filled with joy. He worked at Ball Brothers for 13 years and then founded Cochrane Plumbing Company in 1974 and he never truly retired. Throughout the 1960's and 70's he and Norma served the community as youth group leaders for Avery's Creek United Methodist Church and as mentors for many young people. He served his country from 1957-1959 as Private First Class, 53 rd Ord. Co., United States Army stationed in Nuremburg, Germany.
He served the Lord on mission trips throughout the United States and around the globe. A devoted Christian; he supported missionaries abroad and hosted them in his home when they returned. His favorite mission related memory was a 3 week trip to India where he helped to build a seminary.
He graduated from Enka High School in 1956 and attended NC State University. He played football, baseball, and basketball, and he was a member of several square dance teams. While in the Army, he earned trophies for his expert marksmanship with a rifle. He supported Boy Scout Troop 26 at Camp Stevens Long Pine, on camping trips, and on several Eagle Scout projects. Later in life, he loved to play golf, fish, and watch baseball.
Julian is survived by his wife, Norma Gail Saunders Cochrane, his daughter Princess Tracy Leigh Cochrane Lindsey, son-in- law R. Craig Lindsey, daughter-in- law Jeanne Gonzales Cochrane, and Grandson, Michael Thomas Lindsey. He is preceded in death by his parents, W. Jennings Cochrane and Georgia Parker Cochrane, his two sons, Samuel Isaac Cochrane and Jason Clark "Bubberdew" Cochrane, and his sister Nancy Cochrane Etheridge.

Dear Norma,
I don’t know if you remember me but I was one of Georgia’s nurses many years ago at Aston Park HCC and got acquainted with your husband there. He was always the nicest man and loved to laugh and have his fun. Always very friendly and good to his mother. Cherish your memories. You and your family have my deepest sympathy. I also was nurse for Julian and Margaret Parker too, so you know that has been many years ago but it just seems like yesterday.
Fear not for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name; You are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned,
nor shall the flame scorch you.1
They Holy one of Israel, For I am your God,Your Savior. Isa. 43:1b-3a
Dear Norma and Family, My Mother, Marietta Brock, in North Asheville , was very appreciative of Julian’s help with her plumbing problems. She was a widow and Julian always came to her rescue and never overcharged her. He began to help others widows in the neighborhood. Julian was a good story teller and had a good sense of humor. Also, in 1981, my father died and I came home from Europe to help my mother. Jane and were missionaries there. I had enough money for a one way ticket home but no money to get back. Julian contacted his pastor and others and helped raise 500 dollars for me to get back. He is was a good man who loved Christ and his family.
Dear Norma and Family, I am so sorry for your great loss. We know though, it is gain for Heaven and Julian. He was and is a great man and I could see the Beauty of Jesus in his life. I praise God for all the fruit Julian bore in his life through the blessing and power of Jesus. May Jesus comfort and sustain you as you continue to walk with Him. Love and Prayers, Jane.

Dear Norma,
Julian and Jason are sitting around the campfire up in heaven singing songs and praising The Lord. I know that Dad had some coffee ready for him and handed Julian a fishing pole! The Lord be with you all.
