Katherine Daves King

Katherine Daves King, 88, of 121 Kerr Road, Leicester, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mrs. King was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Parley and Trissie Ramsey Daves. She was married to Melvin McKinley King who died in 1992 and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Charles McMahan and a great-grandson Jonathan Zachary McMahan. She was a member of South Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mavis McDevitt of Leicester, with whom Mrs. King made her home, and Kay McMahan of Leicester; one son, Mike King and his fiancee Anita Clifton of Leicester; five grandchildren, Charlene Ball of Asheville, Sherry Bradburn of Leicester, Holly Hamilton of Brevard, Whitney King of Leicester and Josh Clifton of Leicester; two great-grandchildren Casey and Corey Ball of Asheville, and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at South Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Matthew Sams, Phil Willett, and Ronald McMahan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. King will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who cared for her.
