Kathleen Ray King

Fairview ~ Kathleen Ray King, 67, formerly of Lower Brush Creek Road, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in a local nursing facility. A native of Yancey county, she was the daughter of Flora Huskins Ray of Fairview and of the late Francis Ray. She was also preceded in death by her daughter in 2000, Joyce Rodden. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Clayton King of Fairview; a daughter, Linda Buchanan and husband Tony of Fairview; son-in-law, Randy Rodden of Statesville; three grandchildren, Matthew Buchanan and wife Sommer of Asheville, Jeremy Buchanan of Fairview, Wayne Rodden and a great-granddaughter, Madaline Cagle both of Statesville; two sisters, Juanita Ray and Pauline Reese both of Fairview; one brother, Bascombe Ray of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Steve Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
