Kathleen Reemes Brown, age 96 of Leicester, passed away on Sunday October 25, 2015, at Mission Hospital. She was born on February 19, 1919, in Madison County and had lived in Buncombe County since 1945. Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Edward W. and Ida Payne Reemes. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, George Wiley Brown (who died in 2006), and infant grandson William Brown; brothers Reuben, Ray, and Craig Reemes; sisters Faye Reemes Parham and Wilma Reemes Ramsey. She is survived by her daughters Dorothy (Dot) Brown Hawkins (Noel) and Lorraine Brown Cook (Frank), and son George Edward Brown (Delores) all of Leicester. She is also survived by a sister Evelyn Reemes Clark of Candler, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Newfound Baptist Church in Leicester, of which she was a member. The Rev. Jeff Maynard will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newfound Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 6, Leicester, NC 28748. The family wishes to thank caregivers Teresa Rhinehart and Susan Taylor for their devoted and compassionate care. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  2. Please accept our sorry for your loss. After losing our mom in July, we know your feeling of loss and sorry.

    But you were really blessed with having her so long. She was always such a lady in her actions as well as her appearance.

  3. I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. How wonderful to have her for 96 yrs. During that time you all were able to come to know her as a person, not just your Mother. I think that is a wonderful gift from God. She was very interesting to talk to, loved hearing her memories. Praying for your family.
