Kempton David Fortune

Kempton David Fortune, 85, of 14 Homeway Road, Asheville, died Monday, September 16, 2002. Mr. Fortune was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Louis and Hattie Gilliam Fortune. He was a retired carpenter and was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Crook Fortune; one daughter, Binnie F. Mathus of Asheville; two grandchildren, David Mathus of Asheville and Terry Haynes of Greenville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Marie Mathus, Katrina Lynn Haynes, Courtney Ann Mathus, Heather Elizabeth Haynes, and Kirsten Laurel Mathus; and one sister, Georgia Fortune of Clarksville, TN. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. James L. Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service.
