Arden - Kendall Alexander Wernet, age 20, died on September 29, 2014. Kendall is survived by his parents, Bob and Helen Wernet; sister, Kaitlin Wernet; a loving extended family and many treasured friends.
Kendall was born in Winter Park, FL, on June 7, 1994. After his family moved to Asheville in 1998, Kendall attended Glen Arden Elementary, Cane Creek Middle School and T.C. Roberson High School. At Roberson, Kendall excelled in athletics and music, graduating with honors in 2012. Kendall was a proud Clemson Tiger, a junior in the College of Business.
Among Kendall's most outstanding accomplishments was his achievement of the Eagle Scout rank at the age of 15. He loved the outdoors, hiking, running, soccer and sports of all kinds. He was captain of the Roberson cross country team. In addition to participating in many sports as an athlete, Kendall was a passionate fan of Clemson football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
An accomplished musician, Kendall played the trumpet, guitar, piano and bagpipes. Kendall was a principal member of the T.C. Roberson Symphonic Band and performed in the Asheville Youth Symphony. He continued his participation in Symphonic Band at Clemson, and was also a member of the Clemson University Sailing Club, the Contra Club and iLead.
Kendall had a strong work ethic, advancing from manager, to branch manager and ultimately regional manager with Young Entrepreneurs Across America (Student Painters). He recently co-founded "Driven Vision" to coach, mentor, inspire and motivate other young people to fulfill their goals and realize their fullest potential.
Kendall was a devout Christian and sought every opportunity to extend grace and compassion to others. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm for life and positive spirit. His life was short, but it was full. Kendall fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
A time of visitation will be held at Groce Funeral Home, 72 Long Shoals Road from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 3. A celebration of Kendall's life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 60 Church Street, Asheville at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 4.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kendall's memory to the Buncombe County Schools Foundation, 175 Bingham Road, Asheville, NC 28806, to support the Cane Creek Middle School Band and the T.C. Roberson High School Band, or the Clemson University Foundation, P.O. Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29633 to support the Clemson Symphonic Band.
May the Lord strengthen and comfort you as you walk through this difficult time. May He wipe your tears and help you see His loving arm even in your grief. I am so sorry for the loss.
To the Wernet family, deepest condolences from Kendall’s Clemson Band family. We are heartbroken with you to lose such a smiling, talented young man; we will leave an empty chair for him at our next concert. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do in your time of need. On a personal note, I will not be able to make the visitation or funeral due to my football obligations, but I will be there in spirit. May you all find peace and comfort. -Mark Spede, Director of Bands, Clemson University
Helen and Bob,
I cannot imagine the extent of your loss! This past July, Kendall and his crew painted my deck; and I got to know your son. What an absolutely wonderful young man…kind, professional, friendly, and so many other characteristics. I am still trying to accept the idea that such a young man is no longer with us. You will stay in my thoughts and prayers.

Helen, Bob, and Kaitlin,
Our son, Joshua Fairchild, has been a good friend of Kendall’s since their first week of college at Clemson. Although we never met Kendall, Josh spoke of him often and thought very highly of your young man. During their early days at Clemson, Josh took Kendall and a couple of other friends to my Aunt and Uncle’s house in Seneca, just on the other side of Lake Hartwell. My whole family has been stricken by your tragedy. Please know that we are all praying earnestly for you all. Sincerely, Ann Marie and Philip Fairchild

Dear Helen and Bob,
We were so very sorry to learn about the tragic death of your son, Kendall. It was good to read in his obituary what a gifted, accomplished, caring and dedicated young person he was.
May God comfort and strengthen you and your daughter now and in the days ahead.

Though we’ve known of Kendall, we were not blessed with keeping in touch, and, most recently only fortunate enough to have talked briefly with Kendall this summer. He impressed right away as an attentive, curious young man who was interested in any soul, no matter their age or structure on the outside. Those who have written about Kendall could very well be describing Jesus, as it appears he devoted his life to making the most of every day – not in his own interests, but in helping others to appreciate the bounty and possibilities of life. We can all grow and learn from the deeds and daily efforts and activities of souls like Kendall. And that may be his greatest gift and legacy, as it was for Jesus. May God Bless!

Helen, Bob, and Kaitlin,
“Shock & disbelief†doesn’t even begin to describe the feelings we had when we heard the news.
We’ve known your family since Kendall was in pre-school (where he surprised our Elizabeth with her first kiss!). Over the years, we’ve all attended the same school events, birthday parties, cross-country meets, and band concerts. We were there when Kendall performed Amazing Grace on the bagpipes (looking so handsome in his kilt!). We watched with pride as the class of 2012 graduated. We literally watched Kendall grow-up; from a sweet little boy in pre-school to an amazing young man ready to conquer the world.
And now this tragedy has happened… Words just cannot express the sadness we feel for your family.
We are praying that God will give you comfort and peace. Please know that our hearts and prayers will continue to be with your family during the difficult days to come.

Dear Bob,
I want to express my sympathy with the loss of your son Kendall in such a tragic way. I am unable to attend the visitation or service due to Yom Kippour but wanted you to know that you and your family will be in my prayers. While I have not met the rest of your family, I know that this is a great loss to all of you.

Kendall worked with my two sons Alex and Nick at Student Painters. He was a good frIend and will be missed. Nick told me how Kendall was one of the best and that he was successful because he glorified God in all he did. I am sure his presence will continue to live on in their hearts.

Sometimes gentle words can do so much to soften
the intense sadness when a dear loved one dies. God’s word acknowledges that
our heart can be ‘broken and crushed.’ (Ps. 51:17). But even in
severe situations, God can bring relief to a stricken heart if we pray to him
in full faith and observe his commandments. May the God of comfort soothe your
families aching hearts as the days progress.

Dear family of Kendall,
I am so sorry for the tragic loss of your son.
I wish to share comfort from the Bible at this very sad time.
Jesus well knew the Bible statement:’ Time and unforeseen occurrence befall them Ecclesiastes 9:11]. He knew that
sometimes bad things just happen.
The Bible teaches us about the wonderful future resurrection hope is the promise found at John 5:28,29.
Revelation 21:3,4 states that in the future ‘ death will be no more. and pain
will be no more, the former things will have passed away.’
Our Creator, Jehovah God, by means of his son Jesus, is going to undo the tragedies that touch our lives today and we will be able to welcome back onto the paradise earth, our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death.

I was with Kendall in his last moments of passing and praying with every last miniute that I had with him that it would all work for the best because my trust was with the Lord. He wanted to gain another angel and as they say, He only takes the best. I worked in the office with Kendall and got to meet him in person aboard the crusie. It was a tragic accident and my deepest condolances go out to his friends and family for losing such an amazing young man. He was one of the most friendly guys to talk to on the phone and will truly be missed. It breaks my heat that he had to go so soon. He will forever be in my heart.
God bless his family,
Liz O’Brien
It has been a year now. We have thought of each of you and how you must be hurting. How you face each day and how you must cry at the slightest remembrance of Kendall, only to be lifted with a smile when a treasured memory surfaces.
Bob, Helen and Kaitlin, thank you! You will never know how much your Courage and Grace have impacted those who love you and Kendall.
May your lives continue to be a Testament to God’s enduring love and may Kendall’s spirit reflect in us all.
Love
Your Forever Friends,
It brings back memories of Kendall great service and leadership while earning Eagle Scout.
