Kenneth Daniel Ayers, Sr.

Kenneth Daniel Ayers, Sr., 68, of 40 Doty Drive, Brevard, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his home. Mr. Ayers was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Robert William Ayers, Sr. and Nancy McCall Ayers. He was retired after 39 years with American Enka and attended Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest. He is survived by a daughter, Chantay Ayers Parris and her husband Richard of Clyde; two sons, Kenneth D. “Spud” Ayers, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Brevard and Donavan Wayne Ayers and his wife Kim of Enka; two grandchildren, Morgan Wayne Ayers and Marshall Wayne Ayers; a brother, Robert William Ayers, Jr. and his wife Jeanette of Winston-Salem; three nephews, Tim, Todd and Robbie; a niece, Suzanne; his first wife and mother of his children, Helen Sumner and his second wife, Lynda Ayers. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eddie Owen, Larry Owen, Ray Bryson, Morgan Ayers, Donavan Ayers and Spud Ayers. His family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Hospice of Transylvania County, 1234 Asheville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712.
