L. Pauline Bridges Campbell, 87, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 2, 2016. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Campbell was born to the late Calvin Walter Bridges and Juanita Gillespie Bridges Meadows on October 21, 1928. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Otis Lincoln Campbell, who died in 2009, brothers Walter Bridges and Rex (Eva) Bridges, step-father, Richard Meadows and granddaughter, Pressley Jayde Maynor. She was retired after more than 30 years with KMart on Patton Avenue. She was a member of Western Chapel United Methodist Church and more recently attended Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughter Wanda Meadows (Glenn) of Asheville; sister, Geraldine Franklin (David); brother, Reeves Bridges (Katy); two granddaughters, Lisa Carroll (Adam) and Lena Clark (Greg); five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; step-daughter, Valli Sherrell (Vernon); and nieces, nephews and many friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Campbell will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with Pastor Mark Lewis officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 125 Ben Lippen Road, Asheville, NC 28806, or to Western Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1496, Leicester, NC 28748.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers will be with you during this very difficult time.

  2. We are both shocked and so sorry to hear, quite belatedly, of Pauline’s passing. Pauline and Otis looked after Myrna for years. Pauline was a caring neighbor and we will both miss her more than we know how to express. Very disappointed to hear of her death too late to attend the funeral and offer our condolences to you her family. Steve will especially miss his regular conversations and Pauline’s unsuccessful attempts to pay for mowing her yard. No money could match the love and appreciation she expressed for such simple tasks and attention. Our lives will not be the same without her. Myrna&Steve;
