Larry Edison Morgan, 70, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at his home in Brevard.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Edison Dennis and Pearl Riddle Morgan. He served with the Seabees in Vietnam with the US Navy, and he was a former Scout Master of Averys Creek Troop 26, BSA. He was the owner of Riteway Express trucking company.
Surviving are his son, Dusty Morgan (Divinity); two grandchildren, Delena and Delora Morgan; and two brothers, Gary Morgan and Ricky Morgan.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery, Leicester.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A man you just admired and respected after
a little time in his company. Great Father and great Grandfather, my heart goes out to his family.
Marion and I both have been so sadden by the news of Larry’s passing. He was without a doubt one of the strongest yet gentle and kindest person you could meet. Our lives were made better having known Larry.
I never saw Larry without a smile on his face, even through everything he endured over the last several years. Larry was one of the hardest working men I have ever met, and there was no stopping him. He admired and loved his family. I had the privilege of meeting this sweet, caring, loving, loveable, passionate, hardworking, genuine man many, many years ago. I am blessed to have met him. We will definitely miss him!
After moving to the Morgan Compound and helping in the many many many projects Larry was always up to including barns and Divin’s and Dusty’s new home Larry became my Best Friend and Only Brother In Law so to speak.
We were Co-Papaws for our Beautiful Grand Daughters. I miss him already.

Larry was a special cousin, cousin-in-law and friend. Our condolences to Dusty, Delena, and Delora. I know he loved them very much. We will miss him.
Our hearts and prayers are with you Dusty and your family. Your Dad was like a brother to Nathan and a second Father to our late Nannette, Kimberly and Jimmy. We have so many wonderful memories that will forever live on. Larry gave so much time to the Scouts and helped mold many young men’s lives. Our families worked hard together and played hard together, we have wonderful memories that will forever be in our hearts. Thanks Larry, for being such a special friend. We love your family dearly. Give our baby a big hug, and save a party for all of us.

So sorry for your loss. He was a great man! He was always kind to me and gave me hugs, when I would see you all. I am so thankful I got one last Larry hug at Epcot 🙂 I will always remember that. 🙂 Love to you all!

Prayer’s for you Dusty, your family and mother, and uncles. As a young boy, growing into manhood your father was a very special and influential part of my life along with my bothers,Andy and Derrick. From the time our families met when he worked at the railroad with my father to all the scout outings,and events, you all we’re like a second family. your mom allway’s said we were still her boy’s. your dad will surely be missed. we send love and regret with a heavy heart, but rejoice in knowing we’ll see him and so many loved ones when we to cross over into the glory. I’m so very sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. He was a special cousin – always so sweet & loving & never without a smile. His love & caring was so genuine & sincere. Dad sends his condolences too. He loved & admired Larry like a younger brother. We’re praying you can find comfort in knowing Larry is with The Lord, finally at peace after a hard fought battle & rejoice to know you’ll see him again. Love you all.

My condolences to the entire Morgan family and the community of Larry\’s friends. You are all in my prayers. He was a special man and mere words will never sum up the contributions that he made to the lives he touched. I feel priviledged to have considered him a friend, a mentor in business and on the transportation industry. Without his guidence and support the success I have had in my work life would not have been possible. He was a man of strength and amazing character. He will be missed by many but his legacy will live on thought the wonderful family that he raised.

My condolences for the entire Morgan Family. Larry was a wonderful person with a heart of gold. Always wearing that big smile and taking those extra few minutes to say hello to everyone in the room. He will be dearly missed. My Thoughts and Prayers are with you during this most difficult time.
Larry was a terrific man, great man to work for and learn from. I know he will truly be missed by many. He was genuine putting his employees first, always willing to help out. Our prayers go out to the rest of the family.

It is with deep regret that I learned of Larry’s passing. It brought back fond memories of our time as Scout leaders. It will never be known how positive an influence he was in many a young man’s life.
My sympathies to the family as I know he will be greatly missed.
