Lathern Hensley, 48, of 404-B Mills Gap Rd., Arden, died on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Greeneville, TN, Mr. Hensley was a son of Rochella Hensley Norton. Mr. Hensley had been employed at Warren Wilson College, and was a self-employed wood craftsman. Asheville residents and businesses contributed to send Mr. Hensley to Homer, Alaska, in January, 2007 to help Jean Keene, the “Eagle Lady,” in her morning feeding rituals with the eagles. In addition to his mother, Mr. Hensley is survived by his wife, Amanda Swann Hensley; and sisters, Hilda Marie Horn, Selcie Lynn Norton, and Barbara Sue Norton, all of Madison Co., Frances Darlene Norton, of Leicester, and Linda Marie Peters, of Indiana. In addition to his family, he is survived by his many friends at Liberty Corner Enterprises, Inc. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Mr. Ray Escott officiating. Burial will follow at Hale Family Cemetery in Madison Co. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
