Laura Elizabeth Dixon Shelton, 80, of Asheville, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Mission Hospital. A native of Society Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Rennee Wilson Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Carlise Shelton. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Robinson; sons, Earl Shelton and wife Rose, and Ben Shelton and wife Sue; grandchildren, Joseph, Emma, Matthew, and Carol; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Louise Dixon; brothers John and Grover Dixon; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mt. Carmel Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

I got to see, firsthand, her love and devotion for our Lord and for Joseph and Emma. I know they will treasure that love, devotion and stability she provided for the rest of their lives.
