Laverna C. “Cookie” Holebrooks, 84, formerly of 120 Arthur Road, Malvern Hills, Asheville, died
Sunday, November 21, 1999, at Greentree Ridge.

Mrs. Holebrooks was born in Kannapolis, was a daughter of the late Baxter and Esther Cook, and was married to Robert F. Holebrooks, who
died in 1977.  She was a graduate of Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing, Scranton, PA, and nursed in private practice and at St. Joseph
Hospital in her early career.  She retired from the VA Medical Center, Asheville, where she worked in the Geriatrics Unit.  She was a member of the Dogwood Chapter of the NC Campers and Hikers Association, and a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and the XYZ Group.

She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Holebrooks and her husband Charles Martin of Athens, GA;  a son, Donald C. Holebrooks of
Asheville;  a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Holebrooks, and several nieces and nephews.


A celebration of Cookie Holebrooks’ life will be at 11:00 am Wednesday in the Starnes Chapel of
West Asheville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Lewis and the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating.

Her family invite friends to
remain after the service for a meal and fellowship in the church social hall.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the
arrangements.
