Janet Leigh Glenn Lunsford, 50, of Black Mountain, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Born in Buncombe County to Robert and Bertha "Boots" Fortune Glenn, she graduated from Appalachian State University and also attended Queens College in Charlotte. Leigh was owner/operator of Riddle Flower Shop in Black Mountain, then was with her mother, "Boots", at Black Mountain Floral. She was currently an agent with Greybeard Realty. She had a strong love for Jamie, her family, dogs, Barney and Chloe, and all God's creatures. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jamie Lunsford; step-son, Zach Lunsford; brother, David Glenn (Krista); niece, Randa Glenn; and great-nephew and niece, Hunter and Skyler Glenn, all of Black Mountain. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Black Mountain. Rev. Dr. William Henderson and Rev. Bruce Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brother Wolf Rescue, 31 Glendale Ave., Asheville, NC, 28803. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss. Leigh was a beautiful woman inside and out never forget our highschool days my prayers are with the family she will be deeply missed.

  2. Leigh has been my friend since we were 4 or 5 years old. We both went to the Sunshine School in Black Mountain. We graduated together in 1984. After that, we haven’t seen that much of each other. I was home from working in Japan back in September and saw her at the store and it was like we hadn’t missed anytime together. It was hugs and laughs. I’ll miss ya Leigh!!

  4. I am so very sorry for the loss of Leigh… I lost touch with many classmates after high school, but I remember her as sweet, bubbly, and always kind. I am praying for her family and friends.

  5. Jamie and family, we are so very sorry for all you are going through with the loss of Leigh. What a beautiful person she was. We have thought of you often and know that we will keep you and your family in our prayers. We also remember how much her Uncle Larry thought of her.

  7. We are so sorry to hear about Leigh. I have known Leigh since I was 6 years old and we graduated high school together. Bob and Boots I have many fond memories of coming to your home to play with her as a child. As an adult I always ordered our Forest Service flowers from her as well as flowers for my family. She was always a delight to talk to. So sweet. Daddy said he just saw her recently looking at land beside his and mom’s place. He also said before she left she hugged him and told him she loved him. That meant so much to him. I will miss my friend…

  8. My best memories of high school include Leigh. I still have one of the flyers she made when she was ran for and won President of our class. Leigh often gave me rides to school. When she went to Queens College, we wrote letters back and forth. She was a wonderful person who never made anyone feel less than. She was positive, friendly, funny and just a joy to be around. I will treasure my memories with her. Prayers for her family for now and always.

  9. I am so sorry to hear about Leigh’s passing. She was such an intelligent, vibrant person. I knew her since the first grade. It is a tragedy that she went so young.

  21. Martha and I are struggling for words to describe what we feel with the loss of Leigh. She came into our lives through the flower shop and was always cheerful and helpful sending Martha surprise birthday and Valentine’s flowers.

    In the times of family sadness she also helped us honor and remember loved ones. Now we must gather up our courage to do the same for her and the Lunsford family.

    You are in our thoughts and prayers, especially when we go home to our house that Jamie and the Lunsford boys built.

  54. I only knew Leigh for a little over 2 years. She was always so positive and happy. She was so willing to help everyone. Her death is such a loss. She definitely left this earth too soon.
