Leroy Griffin, 78, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

A native of Buncombe Co., he was born December 11, 1943, to the late Virgil C. and Bernice Parham Griffin. He was preceded in death by his older brother, V.C. Griffin who died in 2015.

In recent years he had been a resident of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek. He loved living there and called it his home.

He is survived by an aunt, Mary Lou Parham, a special cousin, Shirley P. Clark, whom he considered his second Mama, and her family, several other cousins, friends, and his church family, all who loved him dearly.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church, Alexander, of which he was a member. The Rev. Anthony Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Per the family’s request, masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Becky Ponder, 15 Harbeck Drive, Weaverville, NC 28787.

A special thanks to the staff at the Oaks for their excellent care and love given to Leroy.

  1. I remember those brothers. Lived in little white house near Earl & Shirley Knew 1 passed away, but didn t know where Leroy had got to. Remember seeing them @ Mtn. View in yrs passed. So sorry for your loss.
