Lesley Dalton West, 80, of 1531 Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Sunday, November 23, 2003, at his home. Mr. West was born in Young Co., Texas, and was married to Merle Mildred Ashe West who died March 26, 2000. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was formerly employed as Chief Security Guard at Cranston Print Works. He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Penland of Candler; a son, Danny West and his wife Debbie of Candler; four sisters, Ruby Lee Forster, Willie Ruth Roberts, Polly Jo Holman and Barbara Sue Sharp, and one brother Melton Eugene West, all of Graham, TX; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Billy Jones officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

  3. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. West while working at CPW in the early 80’s.He was a FINE man.Always positive and helpful!My condolences to his family.

Nothing anyone can say or do will help you other than knowing that Mr. West is no longer sick or in pain and that God thought it was time for him to come home.     Your daddy was a great man! He was so strong but yet so kind! I truly enjoyed the times I got to talk with him. No one will ever understand why God decides to take some and not others! I understand how you feel loosing some one you love so much, because I will never stop missing my grandfather who I love with all my heart! I would like to thank you guys for being there for my family for our loss! I love you guys!
