Lewis George Gillespie, 95, died Friday, March 20, 2015. Mr. Gillespie was born in Buncombe Co. and was married to Cornelia S. Gillespie, who died May 16, 2014. Mr. Gillespie was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He worked at Drexel, Ethan Allen, and English Furniture Companies. He is survived by daughter, Brenda Clemmons (Bobby); sons David Gillespie (Cindy) and Wade Gillespie (Sandy); nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Matthew Sams and Jesse Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave. Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses.
