Lewis Samuel “Sam” Todd, 58, of Knoxville and formerly of Asheville, died unexpectedly Friday, September 8, 2017, at his residence.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Lewis Edward Todd (Helen) of Fletcher and the late Emily Lyerly Morris. Sam was a 1977 graduate of TC Roberson High School and had attended The Citadel.
In addition to his father and step-mother, Sam is survived by a daughter, Carol Cassidy of Charleston, SC; four sisters, Deborah Todd, of Fletcher, Beverly Todd, of Asheville, Kathleen Moore, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Karen Morris, of Maryland; two brothers, Andy Haynes (Pam), of Arden and Steve Haynes (Mary Ann), of Lewisburg, TN; as well as ten nieces, Liza, Sarah, Erica, Colleen, Amanda, Hannah, Summer, Haley, Annie and Katie.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 13 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Roy Waldroup officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tweed’s Chapel Cemetery.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Sam was like my big brother. I have such wonderful memories of when he stayed at our house. He was like a big kid. I will always miss that part of him.
