Lewis W. Maynard

Mr. Maynard was a native of Yancey County and was a retired cattle dealer and farmer. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Madison County and was preceded in death by a daughter Evelyn Allen and a step-son, Phil Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marie Robinson Hawkins Maynard; one daughter, Edith Caron of Michigan; one son, Lewis Maynard, Jr. of Michigan; two step-sons, Cecil Hawkins of Fairview and Don Hawkins of Asheville; two half sisters, Ollie J. Morgan and Polly Palaez of Asheville; a half brother, Jeter Riddle of Weaverville; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Darren Maynard officiating.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
