Linda Duckworth Tandy, 64, of Arden, passed away on September 24 following a lengthy illness. The beloved daughter of the late Alice S. and Joe L. Tandy, Sr., she eagerly looked forward to being reunited with her parents in Heaven. She was a graduate of T.C. Roberson High School, worked ten years at Christ School, and was a life-long member of Arden Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. Linda is survived by three sisters, Alice Helm (Jim) of Greensboro, FL; Louise Young (Orves) of Knoxville, TN; Lillie Bowers (Larry) of Blue Ridge, GA; and one brother, Joe L. Tandy, Jr. (Linda) of Fletcher. Dear to her heart were her ten nieces and nephews: Steve and Larry Helm, Marsha Jo Stiles, Allie Nelson, Phil Young, Joe III and Mike Tandy, Jess, Rusty, and Andrew Bowers, as well as their spouses and children. The family is grateful to the staffs at Carillon Assisted Living and Four Seasons Hospice for their loving care which resulted in her happiness during the past two years. And they appreciate the members of Arden Presbyterian Church who extended many kindnesses and support to Linda over the years, especially the Baker, Banks, Byers, Chastain, Denton, Fant, Fisher, Graham, Gwennap, Johnson, Maxwell, Mitchell, Reems, Reynolds and Ward families along with pastors Crabb and Yates. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either Women's Ministry at Arden Presbyterian Church, 2215 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704, or Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Services will be at 1:30 pm on Sunday, October 2, at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden with the Rev. Ed Graham officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service and at other times at the home of Joe and Linda Tandy in Fletcher. A private burial at Tweed's Chapel will follow.

Guestbook

  1. To each of the Tandy family, the Ward family has experienced your sorrow at a loss, just a week ago, but your joy at knowing our loved one is with God now. I am sure that Dad is celebrating with all of the Tandy’s that have passed before him. Your family has been a wonderful part of our lives for many years. God bless and keep you and know our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

  2. To The Tandy Family. You are in our prayers. Linda was a beautiful woman. May God bless this family. Roger and Donnie C. Grindstaff

  3. I am so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing…you see, I was her Home Health nurse for a long time when she was living in her apartment. I always looked forward to my visits with Linda. She greeted me with such enthusiasm and love. She always said ‘I love you’ when I was leaving. I received several phone calls from her after she went to Carillon and she was very upbeat and happy at her new home. I know that she will be greatly missed by her family. She will always be in my heart!
