Linda Jean Bridges, 59, of 232 Brickyard Rd., Asheville, died Friday, November 2, 2007, at St. Joseph Campus Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Bridges was born in Buncombe Co. and was a daughter of Betty Jean McFee Hyder and the late Boyce Lee “Bill” Hyder. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Elaine Johnson, and by her brother, Boyce Hyder, Jr. Mrs. Bridges had worked in the Quality Control division of Rich Mount Inc. She was a member of Emma Heights Church of God.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Bridges is survived by her sons, James P. Johnson, of Candler, and Tony Gosnell, of Asheville; sisters, Yvonne Webb, of Asheville, and Vicky Parrott and husband Dean, of Candler; one grandson, Isaiah Brown; and several special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Lewis Melton officiating. Interment will follow at Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
I am the brother-in-law of Nancy McFee Whitaker, a sister of Linda’s mother, Betty Jean Hyder. I have asked about Linda several times when she would be in the hospital and am saddened to hear about this and want to extend my deepest sympathy to Nancy, Betty Jean and the rest of the family.
Linda was a good friend. She will missed by all her friends and family but she won’t be forgotten. She’ll hold a place in all our hearts. I miss you my friend.
