Linda Kaye Brooks Rathbone, 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her residence.

A Buncombe Co. native, Linda was the daughter of the late Percy Overton and Mozelle Moody Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her son, Scott Carlton Rathbone, and brother, Dwight Lamar Brooks.

She started her career as an LPN at Mission Hospital in 1977, and retired in 2002. She loved her job and the many friends she made there.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carlton L. Rathbone; daughter, Kellie Pressley (Roger); son, Eric Brooks Rathbone (Cherry); daughter-in-law, Patti Rathbone; grandchildren, Matthew (Rebecca), Jared (Joanna), Riley Kaye, Reid, and Ellory; and great-grandchildren, Scott and Joseph.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly, including her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following that service.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
