Lloyd Wayne Edwards, 94, of Canton, died Thursday, June 30, 2021 at Silver Bluff Health Center in Canton following a brief illness.
Born in Swannanoa, NC, he was the husband of the late Virginia Lee Campbell, and the son of the late David Filmore and Minnie Palestine (Henson) Edwards. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Jack; and five sisters: Ruth, Ethel, Mary, Winnie, and Jesse.
A Navy veteran of WWII, Lloyd was a supervisor with a commercial roofing company and an avid college basketball fan.
He is survived by two daughters, Toni Kirby (Tommy) of Pacolet, SC and Cynthia Eledge (John) of Port St. Lucie, FL; four grandchildren: Chris Kirby (Nicole) of Oakboro, NC, Erin Johnson of Pacolet, SC, Greg Eledge (Kim) of Colfax, NC, and Jessica Eledge of Deerfield, FL; and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Care Partners and especially his nurse Deanna Kirton for the love and compassion that was given to him.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Rev. Phillip W. Park officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Inurnment will be private.
