LoAnne Evelyn Ramirez

LoAnne Evelyn Ramirez, 51, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at her home on Ascension Drive. Born in South Gate, CA, LoAnne was a daughter of Donna Godfrey Ramirez and the late Raymond Ramirez. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Ramirez. She earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and worked as a teacher in that field. She had lived in Asheville since 1993 and was associated with the Sisters of Mercy. Ms. Ramirez was also active with the Hispanic ministries of the Catholic Church and was a member of both the Hispanic and English choirs at St. Eugene Catholic Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by four sisters, Renee(Ernie) Arroyo, Donna Louise Ramirez, Audrey Saucedo, and Yvonne Montez; a brother, Paul (Mary Ann Price) Ramirez, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Patrick Cahill and the Rev. Dr. Michael Zboyovski at 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. Eugene Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, after which the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Social Services, 50 Orange Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
