Lois Catherine Curall, 80, of Fletcher, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Universal Healthcare Center.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Bouvy Leap and has been a resident of Asheville since 1999. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ray and one son, Frank Payne.
Lois worked in domestic care as a nanny. She also received her Bachelor of Square Dancing, having attended the College of Do Si Dos and Allemande Lefts and having completed the prescribed courses in Fun, Friendliness and Good Fellowship. She was a member of the Asheville Ballroom for a number of years and sang solos with her friends at Blue Ridge Bluegrass. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Buncombe County Council on Aging Senior Citizen group.
She is survived by one son, John Payne and his wife, Lisa, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one daughter, Leslie Payne of Asheville; four grandchildren, Christopher (and his wife Mary), Thomas (and his wife Anne), Daryl and Frank Ross Payne; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nathan Payne; one great-great-grandson, Calvin Oren as well as three nieces, Lynn, Diana and Patty.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery and the family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.
