Lois Garrett Black, 102, died on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Leicester, Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late Ellen S. and Leona Lusk Garrett. She was married to Frank I. Black, who died in 1970, and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janet Caldwell. She was a member of Paynes Chapel Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy Pressley (the late Richard M.); a son, Carl Black and wife Patricia; grandsons, Bruce Thompson and Matthew Caldwell; five great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Paynes Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.

A lady who saw 100 years and then some. That is so special. She definitely saw a lot of water go under the bridge. I am sure she was a walking encyclopedia of Buncombe county’s history.Anyone who has a relative like this should be so proud and let them tell you about the way it was back then.
