Lois Proffitt Wiggins, 53, of 685 Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at her home.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of Margie Fish Proffitt of Candler and the late O.H. Proffitt. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Ken Wiggins who died in 1991. She was a graduate of Enka High School, a former employee of American Enka, Avondale, Winston Knitting Mills and Waffle House. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Wiggins; three daughters, Marti Henry and Lisa Wiggins both of Candler, Teresa Kropp of Columbus, NC; a son Kim Wiggins of Candler; two sisters, Dorothy Bull of Asheville, Sue Neal of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Henry, Aaron, Mason, Ashley and Hayley Kropp; and mother to many more.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Winebarger officiating. Pallbearers will be Ricky O’Kelly, Buddy Ford, Benny Trull, Houston Corn, Mike Rogers and Gary Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Lunsford, Ronnie Crowder, Roy Parris and Ron Parris.

Her family will receive friends 7-9:00 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the residence.

Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.

  1. I went to school with Lois, we graduated together. We were very good friends in school, and I am so sorry we never met one another again. She was a wonderful, sweet person, and my heart goes out to all of her family. She is now with the Angels. God Bless you all. Judy (Brown) Allen.
