Lola Cody Brown Ray, 100, of 286 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Aston Park Health Care Center. Mrs. Ray was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Henry and Flornia Crain Cody. She was married to the late Charles Miklos Brown and the late Andrew Ray and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Lyles. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann Case and her husband, Tommy, of Cramerton, and Kitty Hughes and her husband, David, and Suzi Reed of Asheville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Agnes Morton of Asheville. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801, or to Mission Hospitals Childrens’ Outpatient Clinic, c/o Mission Hospitals Foundation, 509 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

  2. mary ann my long time friend,sorry to hear about your wonderful mother..she was very kind to so many people especially me…she once commented that me being so ugly that life would be a ‘bitch’ she was right.. but God bless her for being so nice to me… you reflect all that is good in your mother… so her legacy will contine.. you know i adore you and wish i were there to give you a hug.there is a GOD for sure and she is being embraced as i type.

    I want to offer my sympathies at the loss of your mom. Mothers are so special and their loss is a great grief to her children. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my mom. The encouraging thing is that one day the happy memories will outweigh the sadness.
