Lorraine Smith Pressley, 59, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Pardee Hospital.

Lorraine was born in Miami, Florida to the late Van Cooper Smith and Iris Merle Skinner Smith.

Lorraine loved going to the lake and waterskiing and camping. She enjoyed watching sunsets, talking to her friends on the phone and cooking. She also loved movies, candles, animals, Mexican food, flowers and spending time with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael Pressley; mother-in-law, Virgina Pressley; father-in-law, Carl Pressley; mother-in-law, Gail Reece; two brother-in-law’s, Chip Pressley and Seth Evans and many friends.

No services are scheduled but the family will hold something at a later date.

  8. Mike, it breaks my heart for you but also for everyone who’s lives she touched. She knew everything about me and I knew everything about her. She was one of the first people I met in 7th grade after coming to Reynolds. She was my roommate during UNCA, my daughter’s godmother, my confidant and one of my dearest friends. I loved her and will miss her. She has left a void in my heart that will never be filled.

  14. This has been such a stunning blow to me. Lorraine and I have talked every day, sometimes several times a day. It has been quite a while since we have been able to visit one another, but we did feel as though we were together when we talked. Mike, I know how much you loved each other and I want you to know how deeply sorry I am. She will remain in all our hearts. I am at a loss as to what to say as I still feel numb as I am sure you do as well. I am a phone call away for whatever help I can be at this time.

It had been a long time since we had actually spoken…..I am sorry I didn’t stay in better touch, but I thought about you often! I know you are at peace and I just wanted to say thank you for your friendship!! Thank you for introducing me to the love of my life! You had a gift with people and touched so many lives!
